About All This Bible Stuff
The entries with bible related stuff, mostly come from my Bible (Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation - Tyndale House Publishers Inc.) The footnotes are intended for further explanation of the actual bible verses. I find them extremely helpful and interesting, insight-wise. I type actual bible verses in italics and personal thoughts about my readings in blue. All these bible entries are my bible study time. I keep the entries here so that should I need to reference them they are in one place. Its also my thought that they are so universal, anyone can get use out of them. If you want to read this phenominal version of the Bible that is in plain everyday english go to Bible Gateway where there are many different versions for you to choose.
These are my saved articles from my RSS feed. Lots of crafty mostly. You can add it to your RSS feed and see updates when I add stuff I think.

Being born again takes a moment of faith, but becoming like Christ is a lifelong process. Paul compares Christian growth to a strenuous race or fight. Thus, as Paul has been emphasizing since the beginning of this letter, no one in the world is innocent; no one deserves to be saved -- not the pagan who doesn't know God's laws, not the Christian or Jew who knows them and tries to keep them. All of us must depend totally on the work of Christ for our salvation.

I tried, as an adult, beets this weekend, and while I didn't love them, I didn't hate them either. I'm contemplating trying this recipe out, which is from the cookbook 'Eat, Shrink & Be Merry' by Janet & Greta Podleski.

| Roasted Beets with Shallots & Thyme | |
|---|---|
| 6 medium whole fresh beets (about 680g) | |
| 12 small to medium shallots, peeled | |
| 1 tablespoon olive oil | |
| 2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme | |
| 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar | |
| salt and pepper to taste | |
| ~ | ~ |
| 1. Preheat oven to 425°. Wrap beets individually in foil. Place on middle oven rack and roast for about 1 hour, until beets are tender (you can pierce them with a fork), but not soft. Exact roasting time will depend on size of beets. | |
| 2. While beets are roasting, prepare shallots. Place peeled shallots in an 8 X 8-inch baking pan. Add olive oil and thyme and toss to coat. Set aside. | |
| 3. When beets are finished roasting, remove from oven and place pan of shallots in oven. Unwrap beets and let cool while shallots are roasting. Roast shallots for 15 minutes, stirring once, halfway through cooking time. | |
| 4. When beets are cool enough to handle, peel them. If you cut off the stem end, the skin should come off very easily. Slice each beet into six wedges. Place in serving bowl. Add hot shallots and any olive oil and thyme you can scrap from the pan (using a rubber spatula helps). Sprinkle with balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper and toss lightly. Serve hot. | |

Portobello mushrooms mixed in with ground beef and grilled is the good.
If God's faithfulness has changed your life, don't be timid. It is natural to share a good bargain with others or recommend a skillful doctor, so it should also be natural to share what God has done for us.

Cuke Tomato Olive Salad
I don't know if this is weird or not, but as an appetizer while I wait for supper to bake up I just ate this:
1/2 cup of tomato cut up, seeds removed
1/2 cup of english cucumber, sliced and quartered
2 T black olives
2 teaspoons light ranch dressing
I thought at first it would just be okay, but when I finished eating it, I had to restrain myself from making a whole bowl more... the olives (any reason to eat olives is good) gave it a lovely salty thing.
Only 88 calories, 6.6g fat (which is a little high, but when you count it overall in your day - as you should - its nothin).

Many people will be glad to discuss the Good News with you as long as it doesn't touch their lives too personally. When it does, some will resist or run. But this is what the Good News is all about -- God's power to change lives. The Good News is not effective until it moves from principles and doctrine into a life-changing dynamic. When someone resists or runs from you witness, you have undoubtedly succeeded in making the Good News personal.

If you feel you don't have everything you need, ask: (1) Is this really a need? (2) Is this really good for me? (3) Is this the best time for me to have what I desire? Even if you answer yes to all three questions, God may allow you to do without to help you grow more dependent on him. He may want you to learn that you need him more than you need your immediate desires met.

Some amusing Aidanisms.
Most often when we all assemble at the counter in the kitchen to eat dinner, we all hold hands to pray. We'll ask to hold his hand and he does (for a short time.) If someone is late to the table he is already ready to get the party started and says, 'Okay, go', as in start praying. Until someone starts the prayer he chants, 'Go, go, go.' Its quite funny, and often it tumbles over into prayer time for me with giggles.
We try to limit drinks around here that are full of gratuitous sugar. Aidan will drink a lake's worth of beverage if you let him. So he's accustomed himself to saying this precious jewel when he wants more of something - "Please help me, Mommy please help me a drink! (in an uber desperate voice)" This one irritates me, and makes me feel a little 'don't cry wolf'-ish towards him.
Boo-boos are the thing of the day, week, month lately. Aidan has been chewing his fingernails a bit lately, and therefore created a bit of a hangnail. Whenever it pains him, at many different random times in particular, he'll run up to me, his thumb or finger ahead of him looking for a miracle kiss from me, chanting - 'Oooo oo oo, boo boo.' I don't mind it and think its mostly cute, until he thrusts his finger or thumb (covered in a little spit) into my mouth. Gah.
And he is mesmerized or uber observant of any moles we have on our skin. To him they are all 'boo boos' and 'it hurt, mommy?'
His vocab is coming along quite well. He gets no less than 2 books a night at bedtime. He has a great memory for things, and will often take a book we just read and point out things in it while reading 'for us'. Some of these books having only been read once. He even uses the same inflection we do. So cute.

Tonight's supper! I need to tweak the recipe so that the pork doesn't dry out (ahem getting back my Thermapen will help I suspect. We went to use it one day about a month ago now, and poof, nothing. Change batteries. Nothin'. So it went back, with the package costing me $16 in postage - *ouch*. Still haven't heard back though. Anyway, supper was goood. Serve with rice and stir fry veggies. For 200g raw pork (pre-cooked weight), half stuffing recipe, 3/4 cup of wild & brown rice (<---made without butter) topped with pan drippings & 1 cup roasted stir fry veggies topped with sweet drizzle this one had 655 calories, 33% fat, 36% carb, 31% protein (if you want more specific calories let me know.)
Drizzle is adapted from Food Network show 'Licence to Grill' somewhat. I just wanted something a little sweet and a little curry cause I hate plain veg. And the Stuffed Pork comes from Allrecipes.com and modified to have less fat and calories.

Many have had the sad experience of being abandoned by father or mother. Broken homes, differences of belief, addiction to drugs or alcohol, even psychological isolation can leave children crippled by this loss. Even as adults, the pain may linger. God can take that place in our life, fill that void, and heal that hurt. He can direct us to adults who may take the role of father or mother for us. His love is sufficient for all our needs.
I decided to put the links to my found recipes in my links list on the left section of my page so that I can quickly find them. I couldn't find the link to Beer Can Chicken, so I'm posting it now. As for healthiness of this dish, I don't think that a lot of calories are absorbed by the chicken in this one. The beer is only steaming the chicken so not imparting any calories. Incidentally you can use water in the can, or chicken broth as well. I've tried water and maybe the beer imparts a slight different flavor and breaks down the fat in the skin a bit (or so I've read.) Anyway, as long as you skip the skin, this chicken is delicious and healthy.

Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies -- pain, suffering, disease, injury -- but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word. Only one person can walk with us through death's dark valley and bring us safely to the other side -- the God of life, our shepherd because life is uncertain, we should follow this shepherd who offers us eternal comfort.
When you see people succeeding with evil acts, remember that they will not succeed forever. Their power is only temporary, and God's very presence can send them scattering in a moment. God, according to his plan and purpose, will intervene for his people and give the wicked the judgment they deserve. We should not be dismayed when we see the temporary advantage God's enemies seem to have.
